My work involves investigating the coupling of large-scale dynamics in weather and climate models with small-scale physics processes to improve model accuracy. Due to the complexity of weather and climate models, it is not always clear which processes interact and how. Currently, I am using a simplified 2D model to investigate the relationship between heating, drag and the dynamical core in the tropics.
I'm also looking at moisture balances and how adjustment regimes are impacted by the numerics of weather and climate models.
I work with supervisors Dr Bob Beare and Professor John Thuburn at the University of Exeter and Dr Ben Shipway at the Met Office.
