Dr Evan Baker
I am a statistical modeller interested in using modern techniques to solve real world problems. I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the EPSRC Hub for Quantitative Modelling in Healthcare.
My interests include Uncertainty Quantification (UQ), which is the statistical analysis of complex scientific computer models. This often involves developing emulators (fast statistical surrogate models to speed up and facilitate proper experimentation, often via Gaussian processes) and applying modern calibration and optimisation techniques to learn about the real world and make decisions.
I am also interested in statistical modelling more generally, primarily in a hierarchical Bayesian framework.
My PhD thesis is titled "Emulation of Stochastic Computer Models with an Application to Building Design". My PhD primarily involved stochastic scientific models (i.e. those that have random internal properties) and using UQ techniques to improve the design of buildings.
