Stephen Hughes

I am a 2nd year PhD student studying the dynamics of Polar Vortices on Mars. Currently I am working on developing a shallow water model to assess the impact that latent heat release from CO2 condensation has on the patchiness of the vortex's PV structure. I am using the finite element model Gusto (https://www.firedrakeproject.org/gusto/). My supervisors are Dr William Seviour, Dr Stephen Thomson, and Dr Jemma Shipton (all University of Exeter), and my funding is from STFC.

I previously graduated from Oxford with an MPhys (Physics) in 2023.
