I am currently a PDRA at the University of Exeter, working on the QCF-funded project investigating marine cloud brightening (MCB) as a potential solar radiation management strategy. My research focuses on developing ML-based emulators of the UK Earth System Model (UKESM1) to accelerate global sensitivity analysis and Bayesian calibration, enabling a robust assessment of the climate impacts of sea spray injection strategies under uncertainty.

 

I received my Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences from Sun Yat-sen University, with 2 years of visiting research period at the University of Edinburgh. My doctoral work focused on the development and optimisation of the unstructured-grid climate model SYCIM2.0, with a particular emphasis on automatic parameter tuning using derivative-free optimisation (DFO-LS) and quantifying the impact of model resolution on equilibrium climate sensitivity (ECS).

 

My broader research interests include climate system modelling, model calibration and ML-based emulation, uncertainty quantification, and extreme event attribution. I have extensive experience in running and tuning various Earth system models (e.g., CESM, FGOALS-g3, CIESM, UKESM1), and am proficient in statistical analysis of climate data, including variability diagnostics, model evaluation, and machine learning-assisted optimisation. I have published multiple papers in leading international journals and have been a recipient of several government scholarships and university awards.
