I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Exeter and a member of XCS Climate Systems, working with Prof. James Screen on decadal sea ice variability. I earned my Ph.D. in Meteorology from Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology in 2024, where I studied tropical–extratropical interactions with Prof. Wenjun Zhang and Prof. Fei-Fei Jin. During my doctoral studies, I also spent a year at the University of Tokyo, working with Prof. Masahiro Watanabe and gaining experience with MIROC climate models. Before joining Exeter, I completed a two-year postdoctoral appointment at Duke University, working with Prof. Shineng Hu on interactions between atmospheric rivers and marine heatwaves.
My research explores the physical mechanisms that shape climate variability and change across timescales. Combining observations, theory, and targeted numerical experiments, I investigate how the background climate state influences El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) teleconnections and their regional impacts, how extratropical atmospheric variability affects ENSO development and predictability, and how air–sea coupling connects atmospheric rivers and marine heatwaves.
Outside of research, I enjoy exploring the UK and discovering new places on weekend walks, and trying different foods.
