I am a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. I am interested in how numerical models for weather and climate deal with parametrised physics processes, and how approaches to this can affect predictions for the behaviour of the large-scale dynamics. I am currently working as part of the Model Uncertainty - Model Intercomparison Project (MUMIP), which aims to characterise systematic and random components of model error across different climate models. Prior to this I worked on a simplified hybrid model for weather and climate prediction that combined traditional dynamics-based modelling with machine learning for physics parametrisations. I completed my PhD at the University of Exeter in 2025, focussing on the issue of physics-dynamics coupling in weather models and, in particular, approaches to time-stepping with physics processes using moist shallow water models.
