Dr Luciana Dalla Valle

Luciana holds a Honorary position as Associate Professor in Mathematics and Statistics at the Department of Mathematics and Statistics of the University of Exeter.
Luciana is internationally renowned for her research work in computationally intensive multi-disciplinary data science, machine learning and statistical modelling methods, applied to different types of data, including environmental and social media information. She authored and co-authored over 100 publications on topics such as multivariate and dependence modelling, Bayesian statistics, data science and machine learning, and financial time series analysis.
During the last few years, Luciana has successfully obtained grants from various funding agencies (EPSRC, ESRC, Royal Society, EU, LMS) for projects on data integration and modelling and predicting environmental and social risks.
She serves as an independent reviewer for a number of international scientific journals and research funding councils and she is regularly invited as speaker to international conferences, workshops and seminars.
Luciana achieved a sustained record of successful postgraduate supervision of post-docs and PhD students, in addition to MSc and BSc students.
Luciana has recently joined the Department of Economics and Statistics “Cognetti-De Martiis” of the University of Turin (Italy), as part of a team of Statisticians with expertise in environmental applications.
