Mathematics and Statistics
I'm a Research Fellow in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. My research interests are primarily focussed on geophysical and astrophysical fluid dynamics, where I use simple mathematical models to elucidate aspects of the fundamental physics within these complex, but beautiful, flows. During my PhD at the University of Cambridge, and during my time as a Research Fellow at the University of Leeds, much of my work has focussed on the study of the transition to, and maintenance of, turbulence and its interaction with physical ingredients such as rotation and stratification. The applications of my work include atmospheric and oceanic dynamics (both on Earth as well as other planets in the solar system), and stellar interiors.
