Jimmy Tseng is an Associate Professor of Mathematics at the University of Exeter. His research lies at the interface of homogeneous dynamics, Diophantine approximation, ergodic theory and number theory, using dynamical and geometric methods to study rational approximation and equidistribution.
His work includes a solo paper in Advances in Mathematics on shrinking target horospherical equidistribution and research on Schmidt games, badly approximable systems and lattice dynamics. His research has appeared in Advances in Mathematics, Journal für die reine und angewandte Mathematik (Crelle’s Journal), Mathematische Zeitschrift, International Mathematics Research Notices, Journal of the London Mathematical Society and Ergodic Theory and Dynamical Systems.
He has held an EPSRC New Investigator Award and a Heilbronn Research Fellowship, and served as Director of Postgraduate Research for Mathematics and Statistics at Exeter from 2022 to 2025.
