Prof. Screen is a Professor in Climate Science within the Department of Mathematics and Statistics and Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy. His group conducts research on various topics in climate dynamics, across time and spatial scales; from seasonal prediction to multidecadal climate change, and from the Arctic to Antarctic (and everything in between). Prof. Screen is an internationally recognised expert in modelling the climate response to Arctic and Antarctic sea ice changes and was a founding co-chair of the Polar Amplification Model Intercomparison Project. He has won several awards in recognition of advancing understanding of the causes and global effects of polar amplification of climate change.
