Joana Daniela da Silva Rodrigues

Postgraduate Researcher
Mathematics and Statistics

I am a PhD student in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, where I am investigating Physics Informed Machine Learning and Explainable Artifical Intelligence techniques applied to the field of Weather and Climate modelling. My supervisors are Victoria Volodina, Stefan Siegert and Cyril Morcrette.

Aditionally, I also work as a Scientist at the Met Office, as part of the Atmospheric Processes and Parametrizations team (APP), where my work consists of developing machine learning models and implementing them on our atmospheric models.

Previously, I did a BSc in Physics and Astrophysics at the University of Birmingham, followed by a Master’s in Scientific Computing and Data Analysis at Durham University.
