Mathematics and Statistics

James Arthur is a PhD Student of Hamid Alemi Ardakani and Andrew Gilbert working on Poisson Bracket Schemes and Variational Principles for shallow water problems. Their research is based upon the application of Geometric Mechanics and Hamiltonian Mechanics to multilayer sloshing problems, such as LPG / LNG Transport to rocket fuel problems. Their background in numerical analysis leads to an interest in developing algorithms within this framework to solve these problems. James is also a Science Communicator.
