Miss Isobel Parry (She/her)
Postdoctoral Research Associate
Mathematics and Statistics
Isobel Parry is a mathematics PhD student, supervised by Prof Peter Cox and Dr Paul Ritchie and working with Prof James Haywood. Her research focuses on investigating tipping elements potentially triggered by rising global temperatures, with particular interest in the Amazon rainforest and the aim to identify early warning signs for oncoming tipping events. Additionally, she is interested in investigating the potential impacts of proposed climate intervention strategies on the biosphere, with a view to observing how they might impact earth systems that are at risk of tipping.
She utilises datasets from the latest generation of earth system models, specifically the Coupled Model Intercomparison project (CMIP6), to analyse diverse global warming scenarios' impacts on vegetation and soil dynamics, as well as simple mathematical models.
She is funded by the Engineering and Physcial Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).
