Dr Charlie Suitters is a Postdoctural Research Associate in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, in the Exeter Climate Systems (XCS) group. Charlie is working on the NERC PICANTE project with Prof James Screen and Prof Jennifer Catto. In particular, he is researching plausible, yet so far unrealised, extreme weather events on the continent using the UNSEEN methodology.
He completed his PhD at the University of Reading in 2024, where he was investigating atmospheric blocking dynamics under the supervision of Dr Oscar Martinez-Alvarado, Prof Kevin Hodges, Prof Reinhard Schiemann and Dr Duncan Ackerley. His thesis was titled "The Role of Synoptic Scale Anticyclones in Atmospheric Blocking Dynamics".
